Job summary

Interfaith Works is seeking a UC Homeless Services Support Staff for the Unity Commons shelter in Olympia, WA. This on-call role includes night and overnight shifts, assisting guests, and ensuring daily shelter operations run smoothly.

The position emphasizes trauma-informed care, safety, and teamwork within a fast-paced environment. Compensation starts at $21.50 per hour, with potential for increased wages over time.

Qualifications

• Background check required prior to offer.
• Ability to stand/walk for 8–10 hours and lift up to 25–30 lbs.
• On-call availability and reliable phone/email access.
• Demonstrate culturally competent, trauma-informed service in a multicultural setting.
• Experience with Google Suite and basic admin tasks.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and perform tasks for all on-site supportive services (mail, showers, laundry, kitchen access, cleaning).
• Enforce safety policies and conduct perimeter checks; maintain safe, respectful environment.
• Engage in trauma-informed conflict mediation and de-escalation as needed.
• Collaborate with diverse teams and volunteers; maintain kind, warm interactions.
• Provide back-up/on-call coverage and respond to emergencies; may administer naloxone if required.
