Job summary

Catholic Charities is seeking a part-time Shelter Residence Attendant to supervise a residential shelter and ensure a safe, trauma-informed environment for residents. Responsibilities include intakes, crisis response, and coordinating with staff to maintain daily operations in a supportive setting.

Qualified candidates will have an associate degree in human services (or related field) and a valid NYS driver’s license, plus two years’ experience in human services or crisis intervention.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred; equivalent combo of education and experience considered.
• Two years’ experience in human services, crisis intervention, residential setting, or emergency services.
• NYS Driver’s License valid and clean required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees operation of the residence.
• Conducts intakes for individuals entering the residence.
• Liaises with community service providers and referral sources.
• Provides information and referral services for inquiries.
• Supervises meals when cook is unavailable to meet sanitation standards.
• Provides crisis intervention and conflict management to residents.
• Maintains client census and database records.
• Notifies Residence Manager of any emergencies.
• Supports clients and volunteers in program activities.
• Completes incident reports within one hour of incidents.
