Job summary

Pacific Hospitality Group is seeking a Security Officer to patrol hotel property, protect guests and assets, and assist with safety, security and operations. The role requires strong customer service and clear communication, ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, and to report incidents accurately.

The position reports to management and may collaborate with front desk, engineering and other departments.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Patrol hotel property to ensure safety of guests, team members and assets.
  • Respond to incidents, complete incident reports, and coordinate with law enforcement when needed.
  • Assist with front desk tasks, service deliveries, and overnight engineering activities as required.
  • Close the pool area at night and monitor safety of pool facilities.
  • Maintain shift logs and communicate concerns to management.

What You Will Accomplish

Patrols hotel property to ensure the safety of guests and team members and to protect all hotel assets. Answers house calls, assists guest and team members with respect to safety, security and hotel operations. Assists injured guests and team members, ensuring documentation and disposition of reports. Investigates, records and reports any accidents, incidents or other issues necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the property and safety of guests and team members. Writes incident and accident reports, monitors investigations to their timely conclusion and ensures appropriate follow-up. Contacts, cooperates and collaborates with outside law enforcement agencies to report and investigate incidents/accidents. Stays abreast of all security concerns, logs, reports and activities by reviewing information from prior shift, front desk staff, Manager on Duty, etc. Completes all shift logs and passes information on the front desk. Brings concerns to the attention of management. Responds to all notifications of all unusual events or circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft. Responsible for closing the pool and monitoring the pool area throughout the night. Responsible for cleaning the floors in the public areas including the lobby and back offices. Regularly assists other departments when needed. Assistance may include delivery of food and miscellaneous items to the guest rooms. Assisting with engineering tasks overnight. Assisting the front desk with delivering items, helping guests with luggage, etc.

What You Will Bring

Must have excellent customer service/communication skills to work with guest of various social, cultural, economic and education backgrounds for the purpose of resolving problems/complaints and providing a high level of guest satisfaction. Completes required training as scheduled. Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Requires attention to detail. mush be able to solve problems and remaining calm and alert if dealing with difficult guests, during busy activity periods or in an emergency situation. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English to understand instruction, safety rules, and communicate with guests and government agencies. Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. Work schedules will include working on holiday, weekends and alternate shifts. Must maintain a clean appearance and professional demeanor. Must be able to stand and walk around for an 8-hour shift.

While performing the duties of the job the team member regularly stands and walks for sustained periods of time. Works at a quick pace. The team member frequently grasps objects. The team member regularly reaches by extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction while performing the essential functions of the job. The team member frequently stoops and crouches. The team member talks occasionally and frequently needs to hear sounds or voices. Many aromas and smells are present in the guest rooms and other hotel areas. Balance is frequently required to prevent falling when walking, standing while moving or carrying furniture or equipment. The team member frequently pushes and pulls furniture or equipment. Lifting is regularly required to move, clean or prepare rooms. Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects such as carts, furniture and linens. The team member is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. The team member is subject to environmental conditions found working both inside and outside. The team member is regularly subject to extreme heat and humidity found in a laundry facility. The team member is subject to noise produced by industrial washers, dryers and other cleaning equipment. There is sufficient noise to cause the team member to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. The team member is regularly exposed to vibration produced by industrial washing and drying equipment and a vacuum cleaner. The team member is subject to hazards which includes proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, or exposure to cleaning chemicals. The team member occasionally subject to atmospheric condition such as fumes, odors, or dusts. The team member is exposed to infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens.
