Job summary

Shrub Oak International School in New York is seeking a Shift Leader to supervise Residential staff and oversee daily care for autistic students on-site. The role emphasizes safety, program coordination, and staff mentorship across a live-in school environment.

You will coordinate activities, train new staff, enforce inclusive policies, and maintain strong student relations while guiding life-skills development in collaboration with clinicians and other professionals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• 3+ years in high-demand/high-volume customer service or human services roles; EMT/EMS, CAN/HHA/PCA experience preferred.
• Experience in crisis management, de-escalation, and customer service.
• Shift-leader or related leadership experience preferred.
• Experience assisting with hygiene and personal care activities preferred.
• Experience with neurodiverse students in residential/educational settings required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily care for residential students by overseeing Residential staff.
• Assign staff for programming/activities based on ITEPs and plans.
• Mentor and guide Residential staff; orient/train new staff.
• Enforce policies to promote an inclusive community; report emergencies per policy.
• Build trusting relationships with students; address their needs and goals.
• Mentor students on life skills; collaborate with staff/clinicians and document progress.
• Ensure students follow daily schedules and activities.
