Job summary

Covenant House New York seeks a Direct Service Manager to lead program staff across Manhattan and The Bronx residential sites. You will supervise Resident Advisors, drive staff development, and ensure adherence to policies and funding requirements.

This role centers on trauma-informed, strength-based approaches for homeless youth and requires flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends. You will work with the Program Coordinator and Senior Director of Shelter to foster a high-energy,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field required or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with diverse groups and youth, especially homeless youth, preferred.
• Supervisory experience and staff development required.
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and written/verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Resident Advisors; model CHNY values and standards.
• Oversee daily program operations, supervision, schedules, and case conferencing.
• Develop staff through onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development.
• Coordinate program contracts, grants, and compliance with funding requirements.
• Respond to crises and model de-escalation and crisis management.
• Foster positive relationships with internal and external partners; ensure data-driven decision making.
