Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Support Engineer for U.S. Government Support to operate in a fully remote capacity, with overnight shift hours 12:00am–7:00am EST.

You will diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex GitLab deployments in highly secure environments, often working with air-gapped and classified setups. You will engage with internal teams and customers to improve documentation, tooling, and support workflows, while contributing to the stability and reliability of mission-critical systems

Qualifications

• Strong Linux systems administration knowledge.
• Experience with scripting languages (Ruby/Bash) and MVC frameworks (Ruby on Rails).
• Experience with Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM-powered tooling and gateway architectures.
• Ability to manage customer-facing cases across the full support lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with public sector customers to diagnose and resolve complex issues in GitLab deployments under strict security and compliance constraints.
• Perform deep investigations using Linux CLI to analyze logs, performance, and behavior across infrastructure and code paths.
• Create and update clear, reusable documentation and support content from real interactions.
• Participate in on-call rotations and cross-functional reviews to improve support processes.
• Contribute to building internal tools and automation to streamline troubleshooting.
