Job summary

Yale New Haven Health Services Corp. is seeking a Polysomnographic Technologist for overnight studies. The role involves preparing patients, setting up and monitoring polysomnography, and titrating nasal CPAP under physician guidance.

You will work across multiple sites with emphasis on patient safety and data integrity. Required are a HS diploma, 2 years of patient care experience, and completion of a sleep technology program or equivalent, with registration within a year.

Qualifications

• HS diploma and 2 years patient care experience.
• Registration within a year from eligible hours.
• Completion of a sleep technology program or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identification, collect documents and obtain consent for the study.
• Prepare patient or caregiver age-appropriately and explain all procedures for setting up the polysomnogram.
• Set up and calibrate monitoring equipment including interfaces.
• Place EEG, EKG, EMG and EOG electrodes as required.
• Attach recording transducers for airflow, resp effort, oximetry and capnography.
• Monitor PSG and document clinical/physiological events; adjust environment as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and maintain data integrity.
• Under physician direction, initiate and titrate nasal CPAP per orders and protocols.
