Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a polysomnographic technologist to prepare patients for overnight sleep studies (PSG) and to ensure accurate data collection for physician interpretation.

The role requires monitoring patients, maintaining equipment readiness, and collaborating with staff and families in a patient-centered environment. Overtime and on-call shifts are involved, with emphasis on patient safety and data quality.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years in Health Care related experience.
• Minimum credential as a Registered Polysomnography Technologist (NBRC,BRPT, or AASM) , Registered Respiratory Therapist, RN, or LPN.
• Preferred: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT), Register Sleep Technologist (AASM) or Sleep Disorder Specialist (NBRC) or Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient and conduct overnight polysomnograms (PSG) and collect pertinent information for physician interpretation.
• Formats optical disks for data acquisition and archives data to prevent data loss during overnight studies.
• Recognize and respond to patient medical problems and physiological events, notify Medical Director and provide basic life support if needed.
• Communicate and work in partnership with staff, patients, families, and other disciplines.
• Maintain vigilance in a non-stimulating environment and consult supervisor/nurse/physician as needed when status changes occur.
