Job summary

VCU Health in Virginia is seeking a Patient Safety Associate (PSA) to provide 1:1 safety observation and basic direct patient care under the direction of the RN. The PSA reports concerns to the nurse and supports patient comfort, basic ADLs, and mobility.

Three 12-hour shifts weekly, including every third weekend, from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am. Requires high school diploma; CNA/MA training and BLS/CPR are preferred; healthcare experience with direct patient care is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred CNA or Medical Assistant program.
• Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• One year of direct patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 safety observation for high-risk patients and de-escalate as needed.
• Assist with personal care, ADLs, mobility and environmental care.
• Report concerns to the supervising RN and document care activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and participate in QA activities.
• Serve as liaison between patient, family, visitors and the nursing team.

Education

High school diploma or GED

CNA/MA training preferred

Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification

1+ year of direct patient care experience
