Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health System seeks an onsite Virtual Safety Attendant (VSA) in Richmond, VA. The VSA observes patients via telemedicine under the RN, performs safety checks, and communicates with staff to ensure timely responses.

Must have a High School Diploma or GED with healthcare exposure; CNA/related training preferred. Role requires flexibility to work 8/12 hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred certification/training in CNA or health-related field.
• 1 year or more in healthcare or related field using medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous 1:1 virtual safety observation under RN direction.
• Use 2-way audio/video to monitor assigned patient group and re-direct as needed.
• Identify, report and escalate safety concerns to nursing staff.
• Triage basic technical issues for telemedicine system and provide support.
• Document observations and incidents in accordance with policies.
• Maintain PHI/HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
• Support patient, family, and visitors with professional customer service.
