Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Conshohocken, PA is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician for our Overnight Emergency team. Schedule is Thurs–Sat, 7pm–7am. Pay ranges from $22.15 to $44.00 per hour, with shift differentials and compensation for credentialed VTS staff.

As part of the emergency team, you will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage cases, and perform radiography, blood pressure and other vitals monitoring. Growth opportunities and benefits are provided by BluePearl.

Qualifications

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges of vitals and alert Vet to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes.
• Place feeding tubes and central lines.
• Mentor and train other co-workers with patience and empathy.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
