Job summary

Pet Emergency & Specialty Center La Mesa is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Registered Veterinary Technician for Emergency and Critical Care. This full-time overnight role comprises four ten-hour shifts and includes one weekend day.

As a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, the center offers extensive learning options, supportive teams, and a nationwide network. You will provide hands-on patient care, diagnostics support, and end-to-end client communications.

Qualifications

• Proficient in triage
• Highly skilled veterinary assistant
• Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood work, and IV, IM and SQ injections
• Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and related equipment
• Team player
• Eager to learn and self-motivated
• Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality care, advocate for pets, and educate clients
• Assist in maximizing productivity and maintaining positive patient flow
• Communicate with clients about health concerns and treatment plans
• Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems
• Obtain health history and manage medical charts
• Use safe restraining techniques and keep treatment areas clean and organized
• Mentor and support fellow team members
