Job summary

Denver Animal Emergency, a BluePearl Veterinary Partner, is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. This is an overnight position with a shift differential and a competency-based progression pathway.

You will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform radiographs, manage IV access, and assist in critical patient care alongside skilled veterinarians.

Qualifications

• Experience as a veterinary technician, preferably in emergency/critical care.
• Ability to work overnight shifts.
• Competency leveling system indicates growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases on arrival and monitor vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal vital sign ranges (heart rate, respiration, temperature, BP, SpO2).
• Interpret blood pressure and vital signs; alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify at-risk patients and initiate CPR when needed.
• Accurately perform medical math and administer medications.
• Proficiently perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers; support client communication.
