Job summary

University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center is seeking an Emergency & Critical Care Lead Technician for the 3rd shift. This role oversees daily ECC operations, supervises staff, students, residents and faculty, and ensures high‑quality patient care in an educational setting.

Under DVM guidance, you perform clinical procedures, manage inventory, enforce safety and infection control, and coordinate nightly staffing and training while upholding hospital policies and AFSCME guidelines.

Qualifications

• BA/BS plus 2 years Emergency/Critical Care experience as a technician or equivalent to 6 years total.
• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) and able to cover shifts.
• Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in restraining and handling small animals.

Responsibilities

• Lead ECC overnight team and manage on‑the‑floor staffing.
• Provide clinical services support and supervise staff, students, and residents.
• Monitor inventory, order supplies, and manage procedures.
• Ensure safety, infection control, and adherence to clinic protocols.
• Oversee daily rounds and staff development.
