Job summary

Crisis Nursery in Urbana, IL is seeking a Children's Specialist - Overnight to provide a safe, trauma-informed overnight environment for children birth through six. The role focuses on meeting physical and emotional needs, supporting sleep routines, and maintaining a calm, nurturing atmosphere from 10:45pm to 7am.

Responsibilities include direct care, housekeeping collaboration, and completing intakes/discharges with documentation.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Background check complete and Mandated Reporter training.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, high-quality overnight care including feeding, diapering, hygiene and sleep support.
• Prepare and serve light meals and snacks per dietary guidelines.
• Support good hygiene practices such as handwashing and dental care before and after sleep.
• Monitor health during the night and administer basic first aid as directed.
• Facilitate quiet, age-appropriate activities and calming routines to promote restful sleep.
• Use positive behavior management and de-escalation for challenging behaviors.
• Provide trauma-informed care and a nurturing presence during overnight shifts.
• Conduct intakes and discharges with Crisis Support Specialist and document thoroughly.
