The iconic Hotel del Coronado is looking for an Overnight Baker I to join the Culinary team! Join one of the last surviving wooden Victorian beach resorts in the world. After a $400M renovation and expansion, the resort is more stunning than ever.

Located on Coronado Island, just minutes from Downtown San Diego, this 28-acre property was built in 1888 and features over 750 rooms, cottages, villas, 65,000 sq ft of banquet space, and 10 food and beverage outlets including 4 restaurants, 2 bars, a food truck, marketplace, ice cream shop, and in-room dining.

Classification: Full-Time

Shift: 10pm-6am, various days – must be available weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Pay Rate: $21.24/hour with a $1.50/hour differential for overnight hours. This rate depends on experience and location.

What will I be doing?

As the Overnight Baker, you will operate the baking section of the kitchen, working closely with the Executive Pastry Chef and Sous Chef to deliver an excellent guest and member experience. Your responsibilities include:

• Preparing all food items according to standard recipes, ensuring production requirements are met for banquet, outlet desserts, breads, and breakfast pastries.
• Monitoring the age and condition of all food items to ensure quality.
• Keeping refrigeration equipment, storage, and work areas clean and compliant with health regulations.

• Reading and employing math skills to follow recipes.
• Preparing and baking breakfast pastries, breads, rolls, and some desserts for restaurants and banquets.
• Minimizing spoilage and waste through proper ordering and rotation.
• Ensuring high quality and creativity in pastry offerings.
• Coordinating pastry and dessert preparation and presentation.
• Planning production to meet daily requirements.
• Possession of a San Diego Food Handlers Card is required.
• This position is for the overnight shift.
