Job summary

Harmony Hill School in Glocester, RI is seeking an Overnight Awake Assistant Counselor to support youth during the 11pm–7am shift. You will help youth with evening routines, conduct nightly safety checks, and assist with morning routines, with full training provided.

This 8-hour overnight role requires staying awake and engaging with youth using Collaborative Problem Solving, recording activities, and responding to crises.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Past experience working with youth is required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to be trained in de-escalation techniques including youth restraint.
• Must successfully complete required driving record, criminal, and child abuse/neglect screenings.

Responsibilities

• Promote a positive environment focusing on personal safety, respect and responsibility.
• Effectively care for, supervise, and mentor youth. Observe, redirect and manage behavioral issues.
• Guide youth in their interactions using Collaborative Problem Solving and model appropriate communication and conduct. Manage crises as needed.
• Follow the daily program schedule and adhere to youth treatment plan guidelines.
• Follow agency guidelines to restrain a youth when necessary for safety reasons.
• Record all pertinent information in daily logs.
