Job summary

Bridge Over Troubled Waters is seeking an Awake Overnight Residential Counselor in Boston to ensure safety and support for youth during overnight shifts. You will stay awake, guide residents, and reinforce program rules in a compassionate, youth-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience working with adolescents or young adults.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience with homelessness, substance abuse, or related issues preferred.
• Effective communication and crisis management skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor youth overnight, ensuring safety and adherence to program guidelines.
• Provide advocacy, referrals, crisis intervention, and supportive counseling as needed.
• Orient new residents to program rules and expectations.
• Assist residents in developing life skills, including cooking, socialization, and independent living preparation.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with staff.
• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a culturally sensitive environment.
• Serve as a liaison between the program and community resources.
• Ensure that all activities, services, and programs through Bridge are conducted in a manner that is sensitive to and shows respect for the cultural and ethnic diversity for all Bridge clients.
• We are seeking compassionate case managers.
• Participate in weekly and quarterly program and staff meetings.
