Job summary

Family Service of Rhode Island (FSRI) is seeking an Overnight (Awake) Shift Supervisor to ensure safety and well-being of adolescent females (13–20) during overnight hours in North Smithfield, RI. The role chairs overnight staff, responds to crises, and upholds program and licensing standards within a trauma-informed milieu.

The position emphasizes Trauma Systems Therapy, cultural sensitivity, and collaboration with the Residential Team to support youths’ transition to independence and community

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in social work-related field or significant residential/childcare experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in residential care, behavioral health, youth services or a related field.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues.
• Capabilities to implement appropriate child management techniques, which may include use of passive physical restraint.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Requires valid driver’s license, reliable transportation with a minimum of 3 seats in addition to the driver’s seat and proof of required automobile documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and leadership to overnight staff.
• Respond to crises and emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with program policies and licensing requirements.
• Maintain a structured, supportive, and trauma-informed environment.
• Monitor the residential program and support the implementation of Trauma Systems Therapy (TST).
• Collaborate with Residential Team using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.
