Job summary

King County is seeking an Overdose Training and Community Engagement Consultant II to lead education and capacity-building for overdose prevention across public health and community partners. The role emphasizes equity and engagement with people with lived/living experience to design inclusive strategies and trainings.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher with 2+ years in training/education or 4+ years in health/social service with education as a key function.
• AHA BLS certification is required.
• Valid WA driver's license with ability to travel to community locations.
• Ability to work in variable community settings, including outdoors.
• Strong knowledge of harm reduction, overdose response, and treatment resources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and technical assistance on overdose prevention and community engagement.
• Lead community capacity-building and engagement to prevent, recognize, and respond to overdose.
• Identify opportunities to increase knowledge, resources, and organizational readiness.
• Develop inclusive, culturally responsive engagement strategies with lived experience input.
• Develop and facilitate trainings, workshops, and organizational change initiatives.
• Assess needs and tailor education, training, and TA for partners and communities.
• Facilitate workgroups and advisory processes to support learning and action.
• Strengthen partnerships to expand reach and sustain overdose prevention efforts.
• Coordinate outreach and serve as a program spokesperson with community media.
