Job summary

Withum is seeking an Outsourced Accounting Manager to lead a team serving technology clients across multiple U.S. offices.

Hybrid position (3 days in office) with responsibilities spanning team leadership, AP and payroll oversight, month-end close, and client collaboration. The role emphasizes strong GAAP knowledge, client service experience, and the ability to drive process improvements while coordinating with client leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA preferred and/or MBA equivalent.
• 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience including leadership and review responsibilities.
• Demonstrated client service experience with outsourced accounting, advisory, public accounting, or consulting.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to present financial results to non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience with Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, and/or NetSuite; Excel proficiency (pivot tables, lookups, data validation).

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a team of professionals; assign work, review deliverables, and coaching for development.
• Oversee accounts payable workflows and vendor/contractor payments with proper documentation.
• Review and approve payroll processing and related filings with client HR/payroll providers.
• Lead month-end close; review journal entries and ensure timely reconciliations and accurate G/L.
• Review and approve all journal entries and ensure supporting details.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve variances across cash, AR, prepaid, fixed assets, accruals.
• Support budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and performance analytics; translate results for operational decisions.
• Partner with client leadership as day-to-day contact; communicate status, risks, recommendations.
• Coordinate external reviews and audits; manage auditor requests and timely deliverables.
• Strengthen internal controls; streamline close and reporting; implement best practices across AP, AR, payroll, G/L.
