Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York | Based near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | $150,000 to $200,000 year one
A growing manufacturer and systems integrator of industrial scrap, trim, and dust handling equipment is hiring an Outside Sales Representative to own its territory across eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York. The company designs, builds, installs, and services complete systems: large industrial balers, shredders, conveyors, and engineered pneumatic conveyance that pulls trim and scrap away from high speed production lines. It manufactures part of what it sells rather than only representing other brands, and it is building a national presence.
The territory has been uncovered for the better part of a year. This is open ground, not a crowded patch.
Compensation
$150,000 to $200,000 in year one. That is the realistic number for a rep who performs, not a stretch figure for the one person at the top of the board.
It is a $100,000 base plus commission, and commission is where the rest of it comes from. There is no cap on that side.
What makes the number real is when you get paid. Commission follows the customer's progress payments rather than project completion. It starts at the deposit and typically finishes within about ten weeks of the sale. On a capital sale that is the detail that matters: you are earning inside the quarter you win the deal, not two years later when the last installation is signed off. There is no draw, and you will not need one.
A mileage allowance is provided, and a company vehicle is available for the right person. Bring the rest of your questions to the first call.
What you will do
You will sell into manufacturing plants, with corrugated box and packaging producers among the largest customer categories. The sale starts on the production floor: you walk the plant, watch how trim and scrap move through it, and work out what the current setup is costing in labor, downtime, and floor space. From there you scope a solution with the company's in-house engineering and drafting team, and carry it through a multi-stakeholder decision with plant managers, operations leaders, and owners.
Expect five to ten plant visits in a normal week, roughly two on a travel day. You inherit a base of existing accounts in the territory to work from, and the job is to turn those relationships and the open ground around them into new equipment sales.
Deals are six figures and up. Projects take anywhere from several months to a few years to come together, and once the order is signed, the build and installation run roughly ten to fourteen weeks.
What makes this different
At most companies in this industry, the salesperson files the project, manages it, oversees the installation, and chases estimates for outside services. That is not how this company works. Once you close the sale there is a clean handoff to project management and to installation, and you go back to selling. It is unusual in the field, and it is the reason a rep here can carry the visit volume the territory deserves.
You are not expected to be an engineer. You are expected to understand how things are made well enough to be credible on a plant floor. The product line, the applications, and how to size a system are trained, by two people who have each been doing this for twenty five years.
