Job summary

Monrovia is seeking an Outside Sales Craftsman to grow our plant brand across the Oregon and SW Washington territory. You will build strong relationships with garden centers, analyze store data, and guide buyers to optimize orders while meeting sales targets.

The role requires travel within the region, strong communication, and proficiency with Oracle Cloud Sales and Excel. A horticulture degree is preferred and prior garden-center sales experience is valuable.

About The Role

The Outside Sales Craftsman is responsible for increasing sales by building upon relationships with our current customers and helping prospective customers understand the Monrovia brand more fully as they work to meet their sales goal.

Responsible for the territory location of Oregon and SW Washington. Candidate must live within the assigned territory.

What You'll Do

• Maintain relationships with garden center buyers by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities; recommending profit and service improvements on a weekly basis.
• Collects and analyzes data to forecast store orders, trends, opportunities, and manage stores’ inventory.
• Works directly with the garden centers to resolve any shipping or credit issues.
• Collaborate with Inside Sales Craftsman to execute team strategy and meet sales goals.
• Travels within region to call upon current and prospective customers, along with touring nursery locations.
• Continues to learn about industry trends and the plants we grow.
• Help promote brand awareness by presenting marketing and sales strategies to customers and colleagues periodically.
• Supports our company values in communication with customers and fellow craftsmen.
• Maintains accurate sales orders by customers in Oracle.
• Performs other related duties to benefit the mission of the company as assigned.
• Responsible for the territory location of Oregon and SW Washington. Candidate must live within the assigned territory.

Who You Are

• Proficient oral and written communicator, including excellent listening skills.
• Computer literacy is enough to access and use relevant programs.
• Incumbent must be able to learn the horticultural industry well enough to communicate and negotiate with external stakeholders as necessary.
• Good math and computer skills and proficiency in Excel.
• Good at planning, executing and meeting goals.
• Open to feedback, communicate well, and take action as required.
• Proficient in the Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, BI) and working within our Oracle Cloud Sales
• Associate or bachelor's degree in horticulture or landscape design is desired.
• At least 2 years of experience in sales in the horticultural marketplace and or sales management in the garden center industry.
