Job summary

Astound is seeking an Outside Plant Technician I in Massachusetts to detect, troubleshoot, and resolve outages across data, video, and telephone services. The role includes emergency restoration of coax and fiber, preventative maintenance, and documentation.

You will participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, operate bucket trucks, and perform pole transfers and drops. Requires 2+ years telecom field experience and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years hands-on telecom field work experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Customer service and strong communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Aptitude to learn new skills.
• Problem solving and time management.
• Teamwork and the ability to work alone.
• Ability to read and interpret maps.
• Ohm's familiarity.
• Understanding the Outside Plant.

Responsibilities

• Detect, troubleshoot and resolve system outages in aerial and/or underground capacities.
• Prepare and perform emergency aerial and/or underground coaxial cable restoration.
• Perform preventative maintenance on power supplies and actives.
• Monitor, record and repair cable leakage per regulations.
• Install, replace, and repair coaxial and fiber optic cabling (aerial and buried).
• Operate bucket trucks, ladders, and field equipment.
• Maintain documentation such as work orders and daily logs.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Other duties as assigned.
