Job Description

General Purpose of Job: Following established procedures, obtain blood specimens for clinical analysis, evaluate and prepare specimens, perform testing, and handle specimen delivery. Manage computer functions for patient data and billing.

Essential Duties

• Maintain a professional image and respond to customer needs.
• Organize office operations and manage supplies.
• Follow dress code and appearance standards.
• Adhere to quality control policies and document equipment use.
• Complete required training and competency testing.
• Verify patient identity and perform phlebotomy procedures.
• Handle specimen collection and processing, including special procedures like micro collection and urine samples.
• Follow infection control protocols.
• Prioritize workload and ensure proper specimen transport.
• Evaluate and resolve problems, consulting supervisors as needed.
• Use computer systems for data entry, billing, and test ordering.
• Operate multi-line phones and communicate effectively with staff and patients.
• Report compliance concerns appropriately.
• Assist in training externs and work in various environments.

Job Requirements

Experience & Education: High school diploma or GED, with completion of a phlebotomy program, medical assistant program, or relevant experience.
