Job Title: Phlebotomist (Weekend Program)

Are you interested in growing your career while making a direct, meaningful impact on patient care? The Hanover Lab department is looking for an experienced Phlebotomist to join their Weekend Program! Below are the qualifications and perks of this program.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
Program Requirements/Schedule:
  • Work 48 weekends per year, 24 hours per weekend (either two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts), between Friday at 3 p.m. and Monday at 7 a.m.
Perks:

  • 20% incentive added to the hourly rate of the Weekend Program employee.
Purpose:

This position involves accurately performing phlebotomy and specimen collection of inpatients and outpatients. Samples are used for laboratory testing essential for diagnosis and treatment. The Phlebotomist may also perform clerical, courier, and computer functions vital to laboratory operations, working under supervision of Medical Technologists.

Responsibilities:
  • Interact courteously and professionally with laboratory customers; respond promptly to inquiries.
  • Procure blood specimens via venipuncture, heel stick, and fingerstick following proper identification procedures.
  • Instruct patients on specimen collection procedures and collect samples other than blood as needed.
  • Demonstrate dependability, reliability, and sound judgment, prioritizing tasks to meet department needs.
  • Perform specimen collection at off-site locations if required.
  • Transport specimens safely to the laboratory, adhering to safety procedures.
  • Follow laboratory and hospital policies on procedures, safety, quality control, and hygiene.
  • Perform clerical duties, including entering demographic data, test orders, and processing tests using computer systems.
  • Train and orient new employees, students, and residents as assigned.
  • Report any unusual incidents to technical staff or supervisors.
  • May perform arterial puncture following strict guidelines.
  • Monitor and maintain supplies efficiently.
