Job summary

MercyOne Newton Medical Center in Newton, Iowa seeks an outpatient staff nurse to deliver direct care for pre- and post-operative patients, following the nursing process and hospital policies. The role collaborates with physicians, families, and other care team members to ensure patient-centered care.

Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, hold an Iowa RN license, and have at least two years of pre-/post-op experience. ACLS/PALS recommended.

Qualifications

• Must be knowledgeable about the nursing process and its application.
• Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English.
• ACLS and PALS certification recommended.
• Maintains nursing continuing education units relevant to clinical assignment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct care of pre- and post-operative patients using the nursing process.
• Coordinate care with other disciplines and collaborate with the patient, family, and physician.
• Assist in post-operative care across infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient groups.
• Adhere to hospital policies and nursing care standards.
