Job summary

TriCities Hospital in Virginia is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) for Outpatient Surgery to oversee high-quality patient-centered care and coordinate unit activities during shifts. The CNC partners with the management team to monitor nursing care and patient outcomes across the department.

Responsibilities include coordinating admissions and discharges, staffing, scheduling, and collaborating with experts to drive improvements in patient care and staff development.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred.
• Current RN Virginia license or has a compact multistate license.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• Required Two years of experience in Outpatient Surgery.

Responsibilities

• Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
• Participates in ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services in the unit, with the management team.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts and managers to create teamwork that improves outcomes and service.
• Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
• Supports efforts to improve engagement by implementing nursing strategies like hourly rounds and employee rounding.
• Provides recommendations on interviewing, selection, and training of new staff and manages performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Assists with staff scheduling and labor management to meet patient care needs.
• Supports inventory control and management of supplies and equipment.
