Job summary

Community Medical Services in Phoenix, AZ is hiring a Substance Abuse Counselor to assist patients recovering from opioid and other substance use disorders. You’ll conduct individual and group sessions, help with treatment plans, and support coping strategies in an outpatient clinic setting.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health-related field or higher.
• Bachelor's degree plus 1 year of relevant work experience in behavioral health.
• Associate degree plus 2 years full-time behavioral health experience.
• High school diploma or GED plus 2 years of qualifying education/behavioral health experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage a caseload in compliance with regulatory standards and ratios.
• Conduct individual sessions, facilitate group counseling and didactic educational presentations.
• Complete comprehensive behavioral health assessments and individualized treatment plans.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment through ongoing assessments and adjustments to the service plan.
• Coordinate care with other recovery and community-based service providers; document referrals and maintain chart compliance.
• Include family and natural supports in the client’s treatment as requested by the client.
• Stay current with new developments in substance use treatment and licensure requirements.
