Job summary

Community Medical Services is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to support patients recovering from opioid and other substance use disorders in an outpatient setting.

The role involves individual and group sessions, development of treatment plans, and collaboration with a care team to ensure compliant, person-centered care. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 7am–3:30pm, with a $36/hr wage for full-time staff.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Active CADC I or CADC II license or above.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage a caseload in compliance with regulatory standards and ratios.
  • Conduct individual sessions, facilitate group counseling and didactic educational presentations.
  • Complete comprehensive behavioral health assessments and individualized treatment plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and unique client needs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment through ongoing assessment of the client and supports, with possible modifications to the service plan.
  • Coordinate care with other recovery and community-based service providers, engage in case management activities such as referrals and documentation.
  • Include family and natural supports in the client’s treatment, per the client’s preference.
  • Maintain knowledge of new developments in the field of substance use as required by licensure.
  • Maintain professional relationships with other substance use professionals and associated bodies.
  • Maintain thorough client records and act as the point of contact for coordination with other systems.
  • Assist in screening and coordinating primary care services for clients.
