Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH seeks an experienced leader to oversee the specimen collection laboratories that perform phlebotomy. This full-time dayshift role includes rotating weekend/on-call coverage and ensures quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

You will direct staff, manage testing workflows, maintain instrumentation, train personnel, and develop procedures. A bachelor's in medical laboratory science is required; a master's is preferred, with ASCP certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science (or related field) required.
• Field of study in medical laboratory science; or a chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited institution; in non-testing areas, degree in business/marketing/medical technology acceptable.
• Master’s degree, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains safety guidelines OSHA, Joint Commission, and CAP within the department; oversees QA protocols and instrument maintenance.
• Oversees instrument maintenance program, preventive maintenance, and records of service.
• Trains new staff and ensures staff competency/education regarding processes and protocols.
• Monitors day-to-day laboratory operations and schedules; supervises and motivates staff; oversees processing/testing/resulting specimens.
• Develops, updates, educates, promotes, implements, and maintains Policies and Procedures; serves as CLIA General Supervisor for High Complexity testing and Technical Consultant for Moderate Complexity testing.
