Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for providing pharmacy services, including dispensing, preparing, and delivering pharmaceuticals; performing inventory control; conducting compliance audits; handling financial transactions; providing customer service; and maintaining pharmacy records. They may assist in onboarding and training staff under the guidance of Pharmacy Leadership. The role is designed to utilize and extend knowledge while performing technical pharmacy functions in various pharmacy settings, such as Ambulatory Pharmacy, Inpatient Pharmacy, Infusion Pharmacy, or Pharmaceutical Research Center.

Specific responsibilities will be documented and retained internally by the Department of Pharmacy.

Primary Responsibilities

The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals in this classification. They are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

1. Select, package, and label medication and supply orders for pharmacist approval, ensuring proper protocol including accurate data entry of patient, insurance, and medication details.
2. Maintain, track, and monitor medication and supply inventory levels, informing relevant personnel of stock needs and shortages.
3. Utilize medical informatics systems such as order-entry systems, automated dispensing devices, barcode technology, and clinical systems, including system maintenance.
4. Deliver medications and pharmacy services to patients or designated areas, complying with regulatory standards regarding medication handling, storage, and security.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.
