Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for providing pharmacy services, including dispensing, preparing, and delivering pharmaceuticals; performing inventory control, compliance audits, financial transactions, customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. They may assist in onboarding and training staff under the guidance of Pharmacy Leadership. The role is designed to utilize and extend knowledge in technical pharmacy functions within the Ambulatory Pharmacy, Inpatient Pharmacy, Infusion Pharmacy, or Pharmaceutical Research Center.

Specific responsibilities will be documented and retained internally by the Department of Pharmacy.

Primary Responsibilities

The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals in this role. They are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

1. Select, package, and label medication and supply orders for pharmacist approval. Process medication orders following proper protocol, including accurate data entry of patient, insurance, and medication details for verification. Ensure correct drug product selection, filling, and labeling.
2. Maintain, track, and monitor inventory levels of medications and supplies, informing relevant personnel of stock needs and shortages.
3. Utilize medical informatics systems, including order-entry systems, automated dispensing devices, barcode technology, BCMA systems, and clinical integrated systems, supporting daily operations.
4. Deliver medications, pharmacy products, and services to patients or care areas in compliance with regulatory standards regarding handling, storage, and security.
5. Perform all other duties as assigned.
