Job summary

Loyola Medicine is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the Specialty Pharmacy team within the Loyola University Health System. Under supervision of a pharmacist, you will process specialty orders, verify benefits, and help patients with reimbursement issues.

Required IL licensure, valid CPhT or ExCPT certification for newer licenses, and 1–2 years of experience; a High School Diploma and Pharmacy Tech training are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program preferred.
• 1-2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Tech.
• CPhT certification or ExCPT certification required for technicians licensed after Dec 31, 2007.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Specialty Medication Pharmacist with processing specialty orders including verifying pharmacy benefits.
• Assist patients with reimbursement issues and follow up with the specialty pharmacy.
• Keep providers informed about prescription processing.

What you'll do:

The purpose of this position is to assist the Specialty Medication Pharmacist or their designee, with providing support for patients receiving specialty pharmaceuticals within the Loyola University Health System. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the technician will be responsible for processing new and refill specialty orders including verifying and re-verifying pharmacy benefits, assisting patients with reimbursement issues, continuous follow-up with the specialty pharmacy, and keeping providers aware of prescription processing.

What you'll need for this job:

• High School Diploma
• Preferred: Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program
• 1-2 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Student enrolled in a college of Pharmacy preferred
• Experience in a customer service pharmacy environment or related field preferred
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Tech
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification validated by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT validated by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required for all technicians licensed after December 31st, 2007. Newly licensed technicians have 2 years from license effective date to obtain their CPhT and become licensed as a registered certified pharmacy technician.

Compensation:

Pay Range: $18.16 - $28.14 per hour

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
