Job summary

Loyola Medicine is hiring a part-time Pharmacy Technician to support the Specialty Medication team at Loyola University Health System. Under pharmacist supervision, you will process specialty orders and assist patients with benefits and reimbursement tasks.

You will help coordinate with the specialty pharmacy and providers to ensure smooth prescription processing, while benefiting from flexible shifts, competitive differentials, and on-site facilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Completion of Pharmacy Technician Training Program preferred.
• 1-2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Tech.
• CPhT or ExCPT certification required for technicians licensed after Dec 31, 2007.

Responsibilities

• Assist Specialty Medication Pharmacist with processing new and refill specialty orders.
• Verify and re-verify pharmacy benefits and assist patients with reimbursement issues.
• Maintain follow-up with the specialty pharmacy and keep providers aware of prescription processing.

What You’ll Do:

• The purpose of this position is to assist the Specialty Medication Pharmacist or their designee, with providing support for patients receiving specialty pharmaceuticals within the Loyola University Health System. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the technician will be responsible for processing new and refill specialty orders including verifying and re-verifying pharmacy benefits, assisting patients with reimbursement issues, continuous follow-up with the specialty pharmacy, and keeping providers aware of prescription processing.

What You’ll Need For This Job:

• High School Diploma
• Preferred: Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program
• 1-2 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Student enrolled in a college of Pharmacy preferred
• Experience in a customer service pharmacy environment or related field preferred
• Current IL licensure as a Pharmacy Tech
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification validated by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT validated by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required for all technicians licensed after December 31st, 2007. Newly licensed technicians have 2 years from license effective date to obtain their CPhT and become licensed as a registered certified pharmacy technician.

Pay: $18.50 per hour
