Job summary

Harborview Medical Center is seeking a Staff Pharmacist (Pharmacist 2) to join the Outpatient Pharmacy Team. The role covers clinical and distributive duties across six outpatient pharmacies, providing drug information and education to patients, clinicians, and nurses.

You will instruct students, residents, interns, and technicians, and deliver pharmaceutical care to patients while ensuring safe and effective therapy and adherence to UW Medicine standards.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in pharmacy practice or completion of an ASHP-accredited residency training program.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight for the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications.
• Conduct a thorough patient profile review to assess appropriateness of prescribed medication, including interactions, allergies, dose, strength, and route at order time.
• Interview patients and provide education regarding their medications.
• Direct the work of technicians, interns, pharmacy students, and residents.
• Perform direct patient screening and education on selected medical conditions at consultation windows in the outpatient pharmacy waiting room.
• Recommend appropriate drug therapy based on patient parameters and interpretation of current literature, safety, efficacy, and cost; advise providers about patients' drug therapy.
