• Promote rational, cost-effective drug therapy and optimize patient care through appropriate treatment options.
• Evaluate provider orders and verify correctness of entry in the pharmacy system and patient profiles.
• Direct pharmacy technicians in technical responsibilities.
• Ensure proper preparation and labeling of all medications.
• Store, dispense, and inventory controlled substances properly.
• Interview patients and provide education regarding medications.
• Prepare and document bulk packaged items correctly.
• Ensure sterile compounding is performed with proper garbing, handwashing, and aseptic technique.
• Provide drug information to patients and health-care staff; offer in-services as requested.
