Job summary

Harborview Medical Center’s Pharmacy Department seeks a Staff Pharmacist (Pharmacist 2) to join the Outpatient Pharmacy Team on a per diem, rotating shift basis. You will oversee dispensing, review patient profiles, educate patients, and mentor students and staff while ensuring optimal pharmacotherapy and patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for preparation and dispensing of prescription medications.
  • Conduct thorough patient profile review for appropriateness, interactions, allergies, dosing, and administration route.
  • Interview patients and provide education regarding medications.
  • Direct the work of technicians, interns, and residents.
  • Provide direct patient screening and education at outpatient pharmacy windows.
  • Advise providers on drug therapy based on current literature, safety, efficacy, and cost.

The Harborview Medical Center Pharmacy Department is looking for an outstanding Staff Pharmacist (Pharmacist 2) to join our Outpatient Pharmacy Team!

Work Schedule
  • Per Diem
  • Rotating/Variable Shift
Position Highlights
  • Perform clinical and distributive pharmacy duties in any one of the six outpatient pharmacies
  • Provide drug information and education to patients, physicians/clinicians, and nurses
  • Instruct students, residents, interns, and technicians
  • Provide pharmaceutical care to patients
Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight for the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications
  • Conduct a thorough patient profile review to assess the appropriateness of the prescribed medication including monitoring individual patient profiles for drug duplications, interactions, allergies, appropriate dose, strength, and route of administration at the time each order is received
  • Interview patients and provide education regarding their medications
  • Direct the work of technicians, interns, pharmacy students, and residents
  • Perform direct patient screening and education on selected medical conditions at consultation windows in the outpatient pharmacy waiting room
  • Recommend appropriate drug therapy based on patient parameters and interpretation of current literature, safety, efficacy, and cost and advise providers about patients' drug therapy
Required Position Qualifications

One year of experience in pharmacy practice or completion of an American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists accredited residency training program.

Legal Requirement

State of Washington Pharmacist license
