Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to provide high-quality care in the operative setting. You will perform scrub and circulating duties and assist the surgeon with procedures, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.

The role requires an accredited nursing diploma and Alabama RN licensure, with BLS within 30 days of hire. Work hours are 6:00a-2:30p, Monday through Friday, at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham, North Tower Outpatient Surgery Center.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse with Alabama licensure required.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program with licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for surgical procedures.
• Perform scrub functions selecting and handling instruments and supplies.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring and communicating patient condition and overall nursing care.
• Directly assist the operating physician with hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure, plus patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
