Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a medical coder to perform thorough medical record review and accurately abstract data for diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems.

You will help decrease accounts receivable days by ensuring accurate coding and timely data entry, while staying current with coding changes and compliance requirements. A strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School/GED is required.
• Completed coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• 1 year hospital or physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems.
• Certifications listed (RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P/CPC/COC/CPC-A) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract data elements for statistical requests and enter data into the system.
• Manage unbilled coding reports to support cash flow.
• Stay updated on ICD-10-CM/CPT changes and apply updates.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
