Job summary

Highmark Health seeks a medical records coder/abstractor to review and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes based on physician notes and treatment plans. You will enter coded data into the designated system and help reduce unbilled days, supporting cash flow and accurate reporting.

The role requires familiarity with coding guidelines, HIPAA compliance, and the ability to work with health-care teams. Minimum qualifications include RHIT/RHIA or CCS-P/CPC/COC certifications, and relevant coding

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and completed coding courses.
• Certification in RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, COC or CPC-A preferred.
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM/ CPT coding guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
• Ability to work with health-care team and data-entry systems.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes.
• Abstracts data elements to respond to statistical requests and inputs data into systems.
• Manages unbilled coding reports to support cash flow.
• Keeps updated on ICD-10-CM/CPT guideline changes via training and resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
