Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Billing Coordinator / Coder to manage daily outpatient billing operations and coding workflows. This on-site role requires accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guided by CMS directives across the network.

Responsibilities include data abstraction, entry into the EMR, and liaison with physicians and patients to resolve inquiries, while ensuring productivity and coding quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of coding for professional services.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS guidelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates information of a patient’s medical record for submission to the billing service.
• Verifies patient insurance and addresses billing inquiries with patients.
• Ensures receipt of authorization/referral and completion of forms.
• Analyzes medical records and identifies documentation deficiencies.
• Daily monitoring of coding and billing corrections for accuracy.
• Assigns CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes for reimbursement.
• Communicates with physicians/APPs for missing documentation.
• Maintains productivity and coding quality as per policy.
• Complies with organizational policies and reports discrepancies to management.
