Job summary

WVU Medicine in Wheeling, WV is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clerical and clinical support in an outpatient clinic setting. You will assist providers, manage specimens, document results, and help maintain smooth clinic operations.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a Medical Assistant program, or Med Ed program, or one year of clinical experience. Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Medical Assistant Program OR Med Ed Program OR 1 year of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to medical staff to assure patients' needs are met and efficient operation of outpatient unit.
• Assist providers with requisitions/forms for patient examination or testing and ensure test results are available.
• Administer prescribed medications under supervision of attending provider.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations of specimens.
• Obtain and document patients' specimens as ordered.
• Document and report test results to medical provider.
• May perform POCT tests and maintain quality control logs after training.
