Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or Med Ed Program, or 1 year of clinical experience.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• State background check and, if required, federal checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to medical staff to meet patient needs and ensure efficient outpatient unit operations.
• Assist providers with requisitions or forms for patient exams or testing; help ensure test results are available for visits.
• Administer prescribed medications under supervision of attending provider.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations of specimens.
• Obtain and document patients' specimens as ordered.
• Document and report test results to the medical provider.
• After training may perform POCT tests and maintain QC logs.
• Schedule and coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and new/return appointments.
