Job summary

Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, NM seeks experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) or Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) for a long-term outpatient contract. You will perform diverse laboratory tests, ensure quality control, and support timely patient care in collaboration with the IHS team.

Candidates should have an MLT/MLS credential, relevant certifications, and 2–3 years hospital lab experience, with preference for rural/tribal healthcare exposure.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required, bachelor’s preferred.
• ASCP, AMT or equivalent certification required.
• Active BLS certification required.
• 2–3 years hospital laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemistry, hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, serology and microbiology testing.
• Collect, receive, process, and prepare specimens for testing.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment.
• Perform quality control procedures and calibration.
• Document results and follow safety and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection as needed.
• Collaborate with staff to support timely patient care.
