Eastern Shawnee Staffing Solutions, in partnership with Indian Health Services, seeks Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) or Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) for a long-term contract at Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, NM.

The outpatient laboratory setting offers opportunities in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and other areas, with Monday–Friday schedule and full-time hours; candidates from local or travel backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification required.
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• 2–3 years of experience as a CLS or MLT in a hospital laboratory setting.
• Previous medical or clinical laboratory experience required.
• Experience in rural or underserved healthcare settings preferred.
• Prior IHS or tribal healthcare experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Must be a U.S. citizen; able to pass Federal Security Clearance; immunization records required.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient laboratory services across chemistry, hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, serology and microbiology.
• Collect, receive, process, and prepare patient specimens for testing.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment.
• Perform quality control procedures and equipment calibration.
• Analyze laboratory results and identify results requiring further review.
• Assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection as needed.
• Document laboratory testing and results accurately.
• Follow established procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Maintain appropriate laboratory records and documentation.
• Collaborate with lab staff and other healthcare professionals to support timely patient care.

Position Overview

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) will provide outpatient laboratory services at Northern Navajo Medical Center, supporting accurate and timely diagnostic testing and patient care.

• Perform laboratory testing in assigned areas, including chemistry, hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, serology, and microbiology
• Collect, receive, process, and prepare patient specimens for testing
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment
• Perform quality control procedures and equipment calibration
• Analyze laboratory results and identify results requiring further review
• Assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection as needed
• Accurately document laboratory testing and results
• Follow established laboratory procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements
• Maintain appropriate laboratory records and documentation
• Work collaboratively with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals to support timely patient care
