Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking an entry level Registered Nurse for the Outpatient RN CAP1 track within the Clinical Advancement Program. You will coordinate and provide clinically competent care for an assigned group of patients on hemodialysis, including planning, intervention, and evaluation.

In this role you’ll collaborate with RNs, LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians, participate in team education, and contribute to quality improvement and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.
• Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which employed.
• Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform data collection and analysis of patient data during hemodialysis and document in the patient medical record.
• Make adjustments to the treatment plan as indicated and notify the Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Supervisor or Physician as needed.
• Educate patients and families on learning needs and provide initial and ongoing education.
• Direct and provide, with other staff, the daily delivery of safe and effective hemodialysis therapy.
• Administer medications as prescribed and document justification and effectiveness.
• Initiate or assist with emergency response measures.
• Serve as a resource and participate in staff training and orientation.
• Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures.
• Identify expected outcomes and update nursing assessment and plan of care.
• Inform patients about transplant and treatment modality options.
• Complete CAP requirements to advance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
