Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in Independence, MO is seeking an entry-level Registered Nurse for the Outpatient RN CAP 1 to join the Clinical Advancement Program. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for dialysis patients, coordinating with RNs, LVNs/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians under supervision.

You will collect patient data during hemodialysis, adjust plans as needed, and educate patients and families about self-care and treatment options.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful CPR BLS Certification.
• Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed.

Responsibilities

• Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.
• Collects and analyzes patient data around hemodialysis treatment and updates care plans as needed.
• Educates patients and families about learning needs for ongoing care.
• Directs daily delivery of safe hemodialysis therapy in collaboration with care staff.
• Administers medications as prescribed or per approved algorithms with documentation.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Serves as a resource for the healthcare team and participates in staff training.
• Ensures proper lab collection, processing and shipping; reschedules missed collections.
• Updates nursing assessment and care plans with Interdisciplinary Team collaboration.
• Discusses transplant and treatment modality options with patients.
• Complete CAP requirements to advance.
