Job summary

Design Studio Blue is seeking an experienced Director of Outpatient Design & Planning to lead and grow our outpatient healthcare and medical tenant improvement practice. You will drive business development, oversee programming and space planning, and directly influence project delivery for medical offices and ambulatory facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.
• 12+ years of commercial interior design experience, including programming, space planning, and technical design.
• NCIDQ certification required.
• Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu required.
• Demonstrated experience leading design teams, mentoring staff, and managing multiple projects.
• Proven success developing client relationships, originating new business, and securing projects.
• Experience preparing proposals, developing project scopes, estimating fees, and managing project budgets.
• Strong knowledge of construction documentation, building codes, accessibility, and project delivery.
• Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive Business Development & Practice Growth: Take ownership of growing our outpatient practice by cultivating existing client relationships, developing new opportunities, leading proposals, and securing profitable projects that sustain and expand our design team's workload.
• Lead Design & Planning: Direct programming, space planning, design, and project delivery for medical offices, specialty clinics, ambulatory facilities, and healthcare tenant improvements.
• Build Lasting Client Relationships: Serve as a trusted advisor to healthcare providers, developers, brokers, architects, and other industry partners while identifying opportunities for new and repeat business.
• Lead & Mentor a Team: Manage, inspire, and develop interior designers and project managers while overseeing staffing, workload, and team utilization.
• Champion Project Success: Provide leadership and oversight of design quality, project schedules, budgets, and financial performance.
• Shape the Future: Collaborate directly with the Founder & CEO on business development strategies, operational improvements, and the long-term growth of the outpatient practice.
