Job summary

University Health is seeking an Outpatient Coder to join our Health Information Management team in San Antonio. You will code outpatient radiology, laboratory, and ambulatory visits using ICD-10-CM and CPT, ensuring accurate diagnoses and procedures.

The role supports training of junior coders, upholds guest relations, and complies with HIPAA, JCAHO, and state regulations. A high school diploma and relevant certification are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year outpatient coding experience preferred.
• Certification: AAPC or AHIMA required.

Responsibilities

• Coding outpatient radiology, laboratory, and ambulatory visits.
• Using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding classifications.
• Ensuring accurate diagnosis and procedure coding on all cases.
• Assisting in training of new coding technicians.
• Promoting guest relations policies and complying with HIPAA/JCAHO/state regulations.
